Paddle Out for Norah Head

On Sunday, June 25, 2023, around 300 people gathered at Soldiers Beach, Norah Head to show their opposition to a proposed offshore wind farm that would be built 10 kilometres from the shore. The event, called Paddle Out for Norah Head, was organised by the Love Norah Head group, which claims that the wind farm would have negative impacts on the local environment, tourism, and lifestyle.

The Paddle Out for Norah Head event was a clear message from the community that they value their coastal environment and lifestyle and that they will not accept a wind farm that threatens them. The event also showed that there is strong support for renewable energy in the region, but only if it is done in a way that respects and protects the people and places that make Norah Head National Surfing Reserve special.
